Welcome to the city of Seattle
About City of Seattle
Seattle (/siˈætəl/ ⓘ see-AT-əl) is a seaport city on the West Coast of the United States. It is the seat of King County, Washington. With a 2022 population of 749,256[11] it is the most populous city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America, and the 18th-most populous city in the United States. The Seattle metropolitan area's population is 4.02 million, making it the 15th-largest in the United States.[12] Its growth rate of 21.1% between 2010 and 2020 made it one of the country's fastest-growing large cities.
The city is built on Indigenous land, the traditional territory of Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Suquamish and Duwamish Tribes. They lived in the region for thousands of years before the arrival of Europeans or white settlers and developed extensive trade and social networks, along with a deep knowledge of the land and sea, and continue to live here today.
Character and Things to do in the city
The city is proud of its arts and cultural institutions, its many live theaters, and its professional and collegiate sports. It is proud of its parks, of Pioneer Square and the Pike Place Market, and, above all, of the beauty of its surroundings.
Pike Place Market is one of the most popular markets in Seattle and offers a wide variety of shops centered around a public farmers market located by the waterfront. It's also one of the oldest continuously operating markets in the entire country, so you'll be experiencing a bit of history during your visit.
Seattle is also famous for Starbucks and overall coffee culture, grunge music scene, the Seahawks, the Space Needle, headquarters of a lot of the tech industry (including both Amazon and Microsoft), hiking, kayaking, and general outdoors lifestyle (think REI). But that's not all!
